Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Bundung Maternal and Child Hospital (BMCH) on Saturday organised its maiden performance review convergence since the inception of the hospital.<\/b><\/p>\n

The event was to review BMCs performance for the year ending 2022.<\/p>\n

The convergence was held at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Center in Bijilo to assess their successes, evaluate their goals, and identify deficiencies and challenges to accelerating and repositioning the attainment of organisational goals.<\/p>\n

In her welcoming remarks, Senior Nurse Officer at the BMC, Mrs Marie Gomez, revealed that the event was aimed at providing adequate feedback to all their stakeholders and the nation on their facilities\u2019 performance, as well as at providing data, especially to those at the policy level, which may be used to guide the future allocation of human and material resources and identify training needs.<\/p>\n

For his part, BMCH Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mamadi Cham, noted that the event marked a significant milestone in the history of the Hospital as it was the first time they had conducted a performance review to assess their performance at the hospital, the achievements registered, the challenges encountered and how best they could reposition themselves for better service delivery to the people.<\/p>\n

He noted that the event would provide participants information with certain statistics in the presence of the highest decision-making body. He said it took a lot of energy and time to arrive at the level they were, starting from May 2022.<\/p>\n

He said it was when he arrived at the Bundung Hospital that the culture of records keeping was firmly implemented, adding that they had overseen the improvement and well being of a lot of patients.<\/p>\n

Dr Mustapha Bittaye, Director of Health Services and board member for BMCH, commended the hospital for the good work they had been doing and service rendering to the nation.<\/p>\n

Momodou Lamin Jaiteh, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Health, stated that the occasion was a significant milestone as it was the first time that staff at the BMCH took the courage to know the significance of performance review by organising such an edifying programme.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to see the remaining institutions of the Ministry of Health also set themselves, highlight and target when they will witness a similar activity in their own areas so that we can, as a whole, assess theirs,\u201d he appealed.<\/p>\n
