Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Permanent Secretary for the Strategic, Policy and Delivery of the Ministry of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery has emphasised that training of Public Service staff on administrative survey skills and data management will support the ministry\u2019s oversight functions in monitoring the implementation of government projects and programs by regularly measuring the results.<\/b><\/p>\n

Alieu Loum was speaking on behalf of the Minister of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination and Delivery, Baboucarr Bouy at the Management Development Institute (MDI) during the capacity building training for 15 staff from the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS).<\/p>\n

The training was organized by the Civil Service Reform and Planning Unit (CSRPU) under the above-mentioned Ministry in partnership with MDI.<\/p>\n

\u201cHave a good grip on designing and conducting surveys, generating and analyzing data, and making results available to concerned users. Identify relevant areas and conduct a survey on it that will demonstrate your understanding of the subject matter and help provide valuable policy insights,\u201d PS Loum explained.<\/p>\n

The training according to him, is a greater extent, that will allow participants to interact meaningfully with similar public and civil society organizations, private enterprises, experts, and other professional oversight bodies to foster spirits of research in good governance and accountability.<\/p>\n

For her part, the deputy Director General of MDI, Madam FatouA. Barry commended participants for their punctuality during the training period, adding that the training of this nature is all about networking and team building.<\/p>\n

\u201cBoth of you (the participants and the facilitators) have learned new things from each other and for us here at MDI, we want to take a new dimension of making a follow-up to our trainees in their workplace to gauge the impact of what they were trained at MDI, instead of only conducting training and stop there,\u201d Madam Barry informed.<\/p>\n

She commended MoPS for organizing such important training for its staff, while she equally called on the ministry to provide periodic capacity-building training for its staff.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo institution whether public or private can deliver well without capacitating its staff, so capacity building training is paramount for any new institution like MoPS,\u201d Madam Barry concluded.<\/p>\n

Participants were awarded certificates, while the Senior Delivery Analyst at MoPS, Lamin Nyangado gave the vote of thanks on behalf of his colleagues.<\/p>\n
