Every year around this time, many Gambians would be looking forward to the person who will be named the\u00a0Man of The Year<\/strong>\u00a0by the proprietor of the Gambia News Report and Magazine, the late Mr. Swaibou Konateh of blessed memory. Not to be so misogynistic, this annual award designed to recognize individuals who made positive contributions to Gambian society during the year ought to have been named\u00a0The Person of the Year<\/strong>\u00a0rather than the\u00a0Man Of The Yea<\/strong>r and should no longer be an individual endeavor.<\/p>\n

It should be a collaborative event for all news editors whether in the print, electronic, radio or television media to come together at least once every year to select the Person of the year. What criteria to adopt should be the prerogative of those eminent news producers or editors to decide once they meet to choose the outstanding individual? It would be a great honor to continue this good work that was started by uncle Swaibou, May his soul continue to rest in perfect peace.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
