\u201cOrganized by YOUNGO, the official Children and Youth Constituency of the UNFCCC, LCOY The Gambia 2023 has been approved by the YOUNGO LCOY Working Group to provide a vital platform for young Gambian leaders to shape climate action and contribute to global climate policymaking and implementation,\u201d the release stated.<\/p>\n

It further noted that \u201cAs The Gambia and the world at large grapples with the urgent need for climate action, LCOY The Gambia 2023 emerges as a beacon of hope, empowering youth to become catalysts for transformation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis event encapsulates the boundless potential of young individuals to influence policy, raise awareness, and champion sustainability on a global scale.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 2nd edition of LCOY The Gambia promises an enriching experience, featuring trainings, plenary sessions, side events, and other interactive sessions led by experts, activists, and thought leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to network, collaborate, and build alliances, fostering a robust community dedicated to driving positive change.<\/p>\n

According to the release, the gathering will also play a pivotal role at COP28 in Dubai, UAE. \u201cRepresenting the united demands of young people worldwide, it will serve as the global youth policy document advocating for meaningful and impactful action against the climate crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLCOY The Gambia 2023 stands as a crucial precursor to the UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY). Scheduled to take place in early October, dynamic young minds will converge to formulate a national youth statement that will be integrated into the Global Youth Statement at COY18 in Dubai, UAE later this year.\u201d<\/p>\n
