{"id":41277,"date":"2023-08-21T16:31:18","date_gmt":"2023-08-21T16:31:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/?p=41277"},"modified":"2023-08-21T13:41:28","modified_gmt":"2023-08-21T13:41:28","slug":"celebrating-a-legacy-serekunda-east-honors-oj-with-super-cup-crown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/celebrating-a-legacy-serekunda-east-honors-oj-with-super-cup-crown","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating a legacy: Serekunda East honors OJ with Super Cup crown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>Characterised a display of both excitement and emotion, the Serekunda East Super Cup final was played Saturday as a tribute and testament to the enduring legacy of the late Omar Amadou Jallow, OJ.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The event was graced by Kebba Jallow, a cherished friend and current leader of the PPP, who thanked the organisers, the Serekunda East Sports Development Organisation for naming the trophy after the man who inspired and motivated youths in the entire Serekunda.<\/p>\n<p>Modou Yousupha Cham, president of SESDO said the Super Cup is aptly named after OJ as a tribute to his visionary intervention and dedication for the advancement of Serekunda\u2019s sports.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnder my leadership, we\u2019ll do everything possible to promote the legacy of OJ,\u201d Cham said.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Cham also revealed plans to name the mini stadium itself after OJ.<\/p>\n<p>The late politician facilitated the creation of SereKunda East as a sports zone and inspired the creation of many iconic spaces today being used as sports venues in the entire Serekunda such as the Buffer Zone, \u2018Mboyo\u2019 field as well as Serekunda East mini stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Amadou Jallow, one of OJ\u2019s children, said the family is very happy and proud of the decision to honour his father. \u201cIt means they\u2019ve not forgotten where it all started.
