Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>In a continuous effort to market and promote domestic tourism in Destination Gambia, the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) is conducting a series of tours for different stakeholders, both private and public institutions through its bimonthly Educational Tourism Tour package.<\/b><\/p>\n

The latest to be exposed to the different tourism products and services in the Tourism Development Areas (TDA) in The Gambia are the Diplomats which include the new British High Commissioner to The Gambia \u2013 Harriet King, OlayinkaTemidayo Balogun \u2013 Senior Counsellor at the High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ebrima Jobe \u2013 Protocol Officer at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ida Bah \u2013 Advocacy and Fundraising Officer at National Sports Council and among others.<\/p>\n

On this unique and exciting two-day educational tourism tour package, the Diplomats visited different places of attraction and as well partake in different activities like bird watching via boat trip at the popular Kotu Conservation Reserve, Monkey Park, the National Museum, and Arch 22 in Banjul.<\/p>\n

The highlights of the tour were a boat trip from the Denton Bridge to Lamin Lodge, the honey factory at Nyambai, a visit to Brikama Craft Market, and later to the palm wine tapper\u2019s farm.<\/p>\n

Mamou Suwaneh, Senior Officer Marketing Communication \u2013 GTBoard throughout the conduct of the educational tour activities took his time to educate the guests about the creek, the potential of the River Gambia for exploration, first-hand information about the origin of tourism in Destination Gambia, the acceptance and impacts of tourism in the country as far as responsible tourism is concerned.<\/p>\n

Like other visited places, the vendors at the Brikama Craft Market were excited to have the British High Commissioner in their midst, they entertained her and others to fanfare welcome in the market known as mother to all other craft markets in Destination Gambia.<\/p>\n
