Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The General Manager of Gambia Transport Service Company (GTSC) Seedy Kanyi has said in Gambia that GTSC has proposed to introduce a new remedial system of public transport ticking called \u2018Smart Bus Travel Ticking \u2018with a Tamo Card to ease transport fare burden on commuters including students.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr. Kanyi who was speaking to journalists in their head office in Kanifing recently, furthered that the new \u2018Smart Bus Travel Ticketing \/ Tamo Card\u2019 is expected to commence full-fledged operations in the first quarter of 2024. And that the said new innovation is a cutting-edge smart bus ticketing system that would be beneficial to the public.<\/p>\n

He added that the Tamo Card would be contactless convenience, time-saving efficiency, and smart savings with season tickets, enhance security and it will be also eco-friendly initiative. As GTSC had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with their counterparts in neighboring Senegal.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe GTSC is the largest operator for Gambia and Dakar Dem Dik is the major transport operator for Senegal, so the MOU we signed will lead to an expansion of our services through the Banjul Dakar corridor, where we will double our service coverage on that corridor,\u201d said the GTSC General Manager<\/p>\n

GTSC General Manager went on to say that they had accustomed to providing two buses a day to and fro Banjul and Dakar but according their MOU at hand , there would be fours buses plying between Banjul and Dakar daily.<\/p>\n

Part of expanding their bus services as a government parastatal, GTSC had also provided twenty (20) new buses to University of The Gambia (UTG) and the Ministry of Higher Education with 20 GMD students\u2019 fare subscription.<\/p>\n

Mr. Kanyi however appealed to the public to patronize with the new public transport innovation (Smart Bus Travel Ticketing \/ Tamo Card).<\/p>\n
