Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>National Nutrition Agency (NaNA) under the office of the Vice President, on Thursday, organized a two-day Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition (IMAM) for the Technical Working Group (TWG) stakeholders to discuss and give updates on the management of acute malnutrition in the Gambia, funded by the UNICEF.<\/b><\/p>\n

The forum held at Mansa Wally Lodge in the Lower River Region provided an opportunity for the participants to discuss challenges and suggest ways forward in the implementation while mapping out strategies to improve IMAM servicedelivery.<\/p>\n

Fatou Jankeh Jawara, Senior Programme Officer at NaNA said the two-day synergy would contribute to broadening greater understanding among stakeholders.<\/p>\n

She recognized the effort of the Health Promotion and Education Directorate for the strong partnership at all levels and reiterated that the outcome would help to map out strategies and adopt intervention measures.<\/p>\n

Gibriel Sanneh, Regional Principal Nursing Officer (RPNO) for the Lower River Region underscored the significance of the gathering, noting that it provides an opportunity to discuss and map out strategies for improving nutrition-related activities. He noted the intervention would contribute to avoiding stunting and promote the health and well-being of malnourished children.<\/p>\n

Sanneh described the convergence as crucial in strengthening understanding and collaboration between institutions toward the attainment of national targets for the reduction of malnutrition.<\/p>\n

RPNO reiterated that the Directorate of Health Promotion and Education is a critical stakeholder in enhancing conscious building and poverty reduction through the attainment of health for all.<\/p>\n

Alieu Kujabi, Programme Manager at NaNA ProgrammeImplementation Unit elaborated on the importance of stakeholders\u2019 engagement in promoting nutrition activities and reminding them of their responsibilities in delivering nutrition-related issues.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged and recognized the important roles played by the Directorate of Health Promotion and Education and Central Medical Store CMS among others for their unflinching support to creating and strengthening the capacity of service providers.<\/p>\n

Fabakary Bass, NaNA Nutrition Field Coordinator among others made remarks at the forum.<\/p>\n
