Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>President Adama Barrow has disclosed that his Government did not regret creating the Ministry of Public Service.<\/b><\/p>\n

President Barrow who is presently conducting day 6 of the 2023 Meet The People Tour made this remark while addressing the populace at Basse Mansang Kunda in URR over the weekend.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year\u2019s Meet The People Tour is Working towards National Development is Everybody\u2019s Responsibility.<\/p>\n

President Barrow\u2019s remarks were followed by the Minister of Public Service, Honourable Baboucarr Bouy\u2019s response to a claim made by one Mawdo Susso from Tumana who revealed that some civil servants are sabotaging President Barrow\u2019s government which he (Susso) urged Barrow to be mindful of those sycophants within his government.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy government created the Ministry of Public Service to be responsible for civil servants. The Ministry will also ease the burden of work from me and my government will give support to the Ministry for the best interest of her citizens,\u201d President Barrow promised.<\/p>\n

According to The Gambian leader, the Public Service Ministry will bring sanity within civil service thus the main reason behind creating the said Ministry to be responsible for civil servants.<\/p>\n

Responding to Mawdo Susso\u2019s claim that there are sycophants within President Barrow\u2019s government who are not ready to work genuinely for the country, Public Service Minister, Hon. Baboucarr Bouy explained that civil service has a Code of Conduct of which all Civil Servants are aware.<\/p>\n

According to Minister Bouy, his ministry commenced introducing Clock And time signing Machines <\/b>to all Ministries geared towards monitoring employees\u2019 time at which they arrive or leave their workplace.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf civil servants follow the proper channel of communication from local authorities\u2019 level to the highest level, things will be easy for all of us including the president,\u201d Hon Minister stated.<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cPut aside eye service before the president and do what is expected from you. It is your work that should showcase your work to the public not through eye service before The Gambian leader.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minister Bouy informed that his ministry this year will introduce Performance Management System (PMS) into the civil service which he said will serve as the most advanced system, adding that PMS tracks the performance of employees in a manner that is consistent and measurable.<\/p>\n
