Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambia\u2019s National Assembly unanimously passed the Anti-Corruption Bill after its third reading by the Minister of Justice. This landmark legislation paves the way for a more robust legal framework to combat corruption and economic crimes in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The bill repeals the outdated Gambia Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2012 and establishes a new commission empowered to investigate and prosecute corruption offenders. It clearly defines and prohibits various corruption-related offenses, with proportionate punishments outlined.<\/p>\n

Beyond enforcement, the bill also emphasizes prevention through education and awareness-raising initiatives. Additionally, it provides mechanisms for asset recovery and whistleblower protection, safeguarding those who come forward with vital information.<\/p>\n
