Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>An inspirational book dubbed- \u2018Memoir of the Beautiful lifestyle in Rural Gambia\u2019 was recently unveiled at a ceremony held at Semega hall in Bundung.The event was attended by eminent personalities and a cross section of the community.<\/b><\/p>\n

Authored by a veteran Gambian writer, Dr. Seedy Drammeh, deputy director Human Resource and Administration at the Gambia Revenue Authority, this latest book adds to the growing long list of literary works he has published so far.<\/p>\n

At the launch, Ismaila Ceesay, former Managing Director of GPTC and one-time ambassador to EU countries, said the book is a true reflection of what obtains in Rural Gambia in terms of understanding the collaboration and cooperation between peoples and communities.<\/p>\n

\u201cTeaching of children on moral values, sharing, caring, cherishing the extended family system, eating together especially in a shared environment, as well as working hard to earn a living, are some of the remarkable things people in Rural Gambia practice daily.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to him, these qualities of living characteristics have helped rural communities to thrive in peace and harmony and strengthen ties amongst them.<\/p>\n

\u201cHaving hailed from a rural community myself and being a living testimony of these qualities, I am confident the real -world experiences expertly characterised in Dr. Drammeh\u2019s book will help and guide all Gambians collectively in their quest to understanding how beautiful rural Gambian lifestyle is\u201d.<\/p>\n

He strongly advised people particularly younger ones to learn and practice the inspiring traditional and culture values that underpin rural Gambian life.<\/p>\n

For his part, Mr. Karamba Sonko, Principal Education Officer, said in terms of love, dedication and service to humanity, Dr Drammeh has strong passion for writing and has authored many books that are sold around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has strong intimacy and participates at the center of all activities and efforts geared towards the progress of our village. Needless to say, part of the sales of books today will be used for Si-kunda village development programmes. Undoubtedly, these made his name to be taken beyond the boundaries of this Gambia, a country in west Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n

As an educationalist, he reminded that, Dr. Drammeh is deeply involved in lifelong learning and therefore, will be able to achieve his maximum potential in the field of academia, social integration and cultural heritage.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will agree that this is not a small achievement, indeed and we are indeed proud of Dr. Seedy Drammeh.\u201d<\/p>\n

A native of Si Kunda in the Lower River Region, Dr. Drammeh is credited with the publication over thirty-five books, some of which are currently in public domain.<\/p>\n
