Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) enforcement team of the Ministry of Health (MOH) Thursday, 1st February 2024 intensified efforts in its campaign against the illegal selling of cigarettes without graphic warnings and also confiscated some of the illegally imported cigarettes from the vendors and supermarkets in Senegambia strip.<\/b><\/p>\n

The enforcement team on Tuesday embarked on this three-day exercise across Banjul, West Coast Region, and KanifingMunicipality, and the exercise was done in collaboration with the National Environment Agency (NEA), Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), and the Gambia Police Force (GPF).<\/p>\n

The enforcement team informed all vendors, supermarket attendants, and owners that it is important, and by the law of The Gambia graphic health warnings and health messages should be printed\/embossed on all accepted cigarettes and tobacco packages to be sold in the Gambia.<\/p>\n

Also, cigarettes, or tobacco should not be displayed to the public eye either in the supermarket or counter.<\/p>\n

Among some of the confiscated cigarette and tobacco include SIV, VIP, Ignite, Zillion, NIX, Black Horse, Cafe Creme, Villinger, Monte Cristo, Amber Leaf, Black Stone, King Edward, 88 Vape, Elux, PRO 600, Villinger, and others.<\/p>\n

Confiscated items with their owners were deposited at the TSU office in Senegambia Station for registration and statement writing.<\/p>\n
