Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Councillor for Gunjur Ward, Momodou CharrehGibba, has advised the opposition to steer clear of No.1 Marina Parade, hinting that President Adama Barrow should not be entertained in a dialogue as his administration is grappling with \u201ccredibility\u201d issues.<\/b><\/p>\n

The State House has issued a call for a national dialogue, targeting the opposition but Councillor Gibba did not believe that the Presidency has good intentions for the proposed dialogue.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe call from Marina Parade on the pretext of National Dialogue with the opposition is not only fake and ridiculous but it is also a provocative strategy and mockery of the highly conscientious opposition parties,\u201d said CouncillorGibba in a statement made available to this reporter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Barrow Government is having trust and credibility issues. The government is not serious in dealing with the burning issues at hand thereby making them not trustworthy. I will not advise any serious opposition party to partake in any fake dialogue at Marina Parade,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

To the Gunjur Ward councillor, the ideal places for dialogue with the opposition are the national sports stadium and the international conference centre.<\/p>\n

Councillor Gibba argued that the government should be more invested in the fight against corruption, and safeguarding national sovereignty, among other issues, if it wants to be trusted.<\/p>\n

\u201cA government that does not have confidence and trust in its military and mortgaged its sovereignty to Macky Sall, a government that is not courageous or willing to fight corruption and a government that does not value integrity cannot call for a decent dialogue,\u201d he contended.<\/p>\n

He wondered why President Barrow wanted to dialogue with those he castigates.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do you[President Barrow] need to dialogue with the people you described as bad citizens or anti-development or the opposition you continuously disrespect and call them all sorts of names? I think there is more than enough on your table at Marina Parade than to call the opposition for a fake discussion just to score ill-gotten marks,\u201d said CharrehGibba.<\/p>\n

\u201cEnough is enough. Gambians are suffering and going through hell to earn their daily meals. At this point, you don\u2019t need the opposition. Just do what is right and what is most needful for The Gambia,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n
