Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>His Excellency, President Adama Barrow, in his speech on the occasion of the 59th Independence Day of The Gambia, said that Gambians should brace themselves for a high cost of living due to the impact of global developments.<\/b><\/p>\n

Acknowledging the challenges faced in life, President Barrow emphasized the inevitability of difficulties, including those influenced by global circumstances such as price hikes, commodity shortages, and fiscal constraints.<\/p>\n

\u201cLife has never been rosy all the way; therefore, we do not promise that life in The Gambia could be trouble-free. It is unrealistic to expect this. We are bound to encounter difficulties, such as those imposed on us due to global developments.<\/p>\n

\u201cPrice rises, shortages of essential commodities, and budgetary constraints should be expected. In such circumstances, we should unite patiently and apply remedial measures. The Government will always seek ways out of every difficulty that confronts the nation, and we expect the people to support us to resolve such challenges,\u201d President Barrow said.<\/p>\n

President Barrow praised all those who have contributed to the country\u2019s progress and achievements, both inside and outside the country, whether in government or in any other field of public or private life.<\/p>\n

On the country\u2019s education system, President Barrow reaffirmed his government\u2019s commitment to building an education system that is not only a source of national pride but also a driver of sustainable and inclusive development.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndeed, we are charting a course towards a brighter, more educated future for every child living in The Gambia. At the forefront of our achievements is the remarkable progress in inclusive and equitable education. The success story of providing school infrastructure is equally unprecedented. This is meant to influence learning outcomes and positively impact enrolment,\u201d Barrow elaborated.<\/p>\n

He emphasized the government\u2019s efforts to integrate digital technology into the curriculum to equip citizens with relevant skills for the digital age. Additionally, Barrow pledged to recognize and honour exceptional achievements in the education sector without bias.<\/p>\n

President Barrow highlighted numerous opportunities available to Gambians, particularly the youth, emphasizing the role of education and training in economic empowerment and self-employment.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou must realize, therefore, that skills education and training could speedily result in building the economy, expanding self-employment, and allowing you to take control of the economy. The recent establishment and upgrading of tertiary and higher education institutions by my government are meant to multiply your chances of success.<\/p>\n

The future is yours, but so is the present, being modeled in your favour. Make the most of both worlds and your families, communities, and nation will forever remain proud of you. As the adage goes, \u201cThe key in use is never rusty.\u201d Stick to your school work, read extensively, and work like disciplined citizens so that you shine bright wherever you may be,\u201d President Barrow said.<\/p>\n
