Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The company\u2019s announcement came shortly after announcing a temporary shutdown of its cash power sale system from Saturday to Monday. Speaking to journalists during a press briefing, Ebrima Sawaneh, project manager for the Boka Information Management System, revealed that on Saturday 23 October 2021 by 11am, NAWEC would shut down its commercial system until Monday 25 at 7am. He added that within these days, nobody would be able to use the company\u2019s prepayment services or pay bill within any of NAWEC\u2019s offices.<\/p>\n

According to him: \u201c On the 25th when we open up the system, we would decentralise our services to our various branches for most of the activities that make customers to go to the head office to do their transactions, they wouldn\u2019t need that anymore. You just have to go to the nearest NAWEC branch and we would be able to offer you the service just as we used to at the head office,\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are now bringing all the services to your doorsteps. In regards to the cash power sale, we would have more new vendors available, we would have more outlets for the sale of cash power and each of those outlets after buying, we would issue receipts for the buyer,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome meters have 7 digits and some 11 so when we open our system on Monday 25th, those with 7 digits can only buy prepaid tokens from NAWEC branches and those with 11 digits can buy from NAWEC or third parties,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe meters with 7 digits would not be migrated into the new system because those are the old meter models and the new system does not accept that so this is why NAWEC is in the process of changing all the old meters to new ones.<\/p>\n

He explained that the new implementation is not like a two or three hours work \u201cwe are doing migration moving from one system to another and this mean you\u2019ll have to stop at one point and process the old system to a new environment.<\/p>\n
