Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The deputy Permanent Secretary Finance and Admin at the Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters, has said that through dialogue and commitment, The Gambia Government and the European Union have worked to protect waters while promoting economic growth and community well-being.<\/b><\/p>\n

Malang Darboe, the deputy permanent secretary made this remark on Tuesday, 20 February 2024 at the 5th joint Committee Meeting of the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership Agreement between The Gambia and the European Union. \u201cThis meeting symbolizes years of shared effort, grounded in mutual respect and cooperation, with a joint responsibility for our oceans\u2019 future,\u201d DPS Darboe said.<\/p>\n

He urged participants to reaffirm their commitment to sustainability, equity, and inclusivity while envisioning thriving oceans and prosperous communities for generations to come.<\/p>\n

During the two days, participants discussed various aspects of fisheries management, from economics to science among other things.<\/p>\n

In a statement delivered at the occasion, the director of Fisheries Madam Anna Mbenga-Cham said the meeting symbolizes years of shared effort, grounded in mutual respect and cooperation, with a joint responsibility for the oceans\u2019 future.<\/p>\n

She noted that collective knowledge, shaped by unique experiences, will guide the meeting through the complexities of fisheries management, leading to a more resilient and fair future.<\/p>\n

The meeting was chaired by the Madam Fanta B S Manneh,<\/p>\n

deputy permanent secretary at the Ministry of Fisheries, Water Resources and National Assembly Matters.<\/p>\n
