Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>President Macky Sall in a press conference yesterday reassured his compatriots that his term will end on 2nd April this year.<\/b><\/p>\n

Regarding the new date of the elections, there will be national dialogue on Monday 26 and Tuesday 27 this month to agree on the date of the election.<\/p>\n

The 19 presidential candidates, politicians, and members of the civil society will attend the national dialogue to decide the date.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we do not agree Tuesday for the date, the electoral commission will decide. But for me, April 2nd is the end of my mandate,\u201d President Sall declared.<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cI want us to promote peace and unity, and I have decided to pardon all detainees for political reasons.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet’s open a new page, as we want inclusive election and wish the best candidate to be elected.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bassirou Diomaye Faye, opposition of the largest party Pastef, who is detained since April last year, will participate in the campaign.<\/p>\n

He is among the 19 candidates.<\/p>\n
