Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Mboka Festival in collaboration with partners Thursday held Musoolu-Taa called International Women\u2019s Day to mark IWD in a grand style. The celebration was held at West African Insurance Institue (WAII), Kololi<\/b><\/p>\n

The celebration was held through an organized conference with different activities which included poetry, exhibition, early marriage, context and effects, Baa Naa Dingo (Mother and Child) talk, undernou The Mboka Festival in collaboration with partners Thursday held Musoolu-Taa called International Women\u2019s Day to mark IWD in a grand style. The celebration was held at West African Insurance Institue (WAII), Kololi<\/p>\n

The celebration was held through an organized conference with different activities which included poetry, exhibition, early marriage, context and effects, Baa Naa Dingo (Mother and Child) talk, undernourishment and effects, showing video documentaries on Our backbone, Gambian Women and Girls Life and Work by My Gambia and lots.<\/p>\n

Panelists for the conference were Dr. Omar Barry, Fatou Hydara, Isatou Alwar Graham, Ramatoulie Outhman, Sheik TijanNyang, Beatrice Mboge, and Bintou Janneh while the moderator was Musu Finn. Students from different schools, youths, and middle-aged people attended the conference.<\/p>\n

In his opening remarks, Mr. Sheik Tijan Nyang, Head of ITTOG thanked the audience for their large turnout while expressing delight over the celebration.<\/p>\n

Giving a brief background of the Institute of Travel and Tourism of The Gambia (ITTOG) one of the partners of the MbokaFestival, he thanked the partners and organizers for putting up the interactive and enlightening conference.<\/p>\n

Speaking on early marriage, context, and effects, Dr Omar Barry, VC at the International Open University (IOU) dilated on the merit, demerit, and arguments behind early marriage.<\/p>\n

Among the hazards of early marriage factors outlined were complications, stoppage of education, health issues, non-acceptance, and others.<\/p>\n

Speaking on her foundation activities and areas of intervention, Madam Isatou Alwar Graham discussed and outlined different areas, including violence, paternity issues, dependency issues, and so on.<\/p>\n

She, however, encouraged everyone to do anything possible to reduce the chance of violence, abuse, and exploitation.<\/p>\n

One of the highlights of the conference was the Baa Naa Dingo (Mother and Child) talk it was very interactive and punctuated with different questions and answers.<\/p>\n
