{"id":54788,"date":"2024-03-15T18:27:03","date_gmt":"2024-03-15T18:27:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/?p=54788"},"modified":"2024-03-15T17:25:49","modified_gmt":"2024-03-15T17:25:49","slug":"tujereng-vdc-to-take-legal-action-against-ginkon-mining-company-over-1million-debt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/tujereng-vdc-to-take-legal-action-against-ginkon-mining-company-over-1million-debt","title":{"rendered":"Tujereng VDC To Take Legal Action Against GINKON Mining Company Over 1Million Debt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>Tujereng Village Development Committee will take legal action against GINKON Mining Company over a debt amounting to one million, and thirty-six thousand dalasi.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>It could be recalled that GINKON mined sand on the beaches of Tujereng sometimes ago, during which it owed the VDC and showed no sign of paying this debt.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with the Legal Adviser, Allagie Sambou told this medium that, the VDC reached an arrangement with GINKON to pay the sum of One Hundred Thousand Dalasi (GMD100,000.00) monthly, which was only complied with for one month.<\/p>\n<p>He stressed that at a certain period, GINKON failed and they have not been abiding by the agreement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have engaged them through relevant stakeholders like the Ministry of Petroleum and even wrote a demand note for them to pay, he explained<\/p>\n<p>In that drive, as the legal adviser of the VDC, we sought the service of a law firm and currently instituting a legal action against GINKON.
