Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Kebba K Krubally, Pakistani Honorary Consul General in the Gambia has disclosed that Pakistani farmers are readily available to help Gambia in its food self-sufficiency drive.<\/b><\/p>\n

He was making a statement marking Pakistan\u2019s National Day observed here in the Gambia on Saturday 23rd March held in Krubally\u2019s office along Jimpex Road in Kanifing.<\/p>\n

\u201cFood self-sufficiency is a high priority for President Barrow since he comes to power and now Pakistani Farmers are readily available to work hand-in-glove with their Gambian counterparts to enhance annual production through technical assistance from Pakistan,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On business front, the Pakistani Honorary Consul emphasizes that the two nations are consolidating business ties. \u201cWith this, let us treasure our accomplishment for the previous months and use it to set new standards to the next higher level.\u201d He said Pakistan\u2019s Business Community recently invited him and a group of Gambian Businessmen and women to attend Lahore and Karachi Trade Exposure. According to him some prominent Gambian Businessmen have started ordering agricultural equipment like tractors already from Pakistan. He reveals that Pakistani-owned paint factory will soon start operations in the Gambia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI extend my heartfelt gratitude to all who have joined us today, including Pakistani Community and our brotherly esteemed Gambians. Your presence reaffirms the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations,\u201d he told the gathering. \u201cLet us all strive once again to make Pakistan proud by fostering unity, progress and prosperity,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Turning his attention on Pakistan\u2019s National Day, Krubally said on March 7th he joined the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Saima Sayed resident in Dakar alongside ministers, diplomats, among other high profile dignitaries in the sub-region to commemorate the day. \u201cWe celebrate the achievements and sacrifices of the Great Ancestors in the struggle for the independence of the Great Nation, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.\u201d He said they were honored to have received messages from H.E President Asif Ali Zardan and Prime Minister Mahammad Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan through their ambassador in Dakar emphasizing \u201cthe value of our forefathers\u2019 sacrifices and our collective responsibility to uphold the ideals they fought for.\u201d<\/p>\n

As part of the activities there was traditional flag raising ceremony of the Pakistani flag and the singing of the national anthems of both Pakistan and the Gambia. The event was attended by Lang Yabou, permanent secretary of ministry of foreign affairs, Muhammad Ousman, President of Pakistani Community in the Gambia and many others.<\/p>\n
