Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Medical and Dental Association of The Gambia, led by DrLamin E.S. Jaiteh, paid a courtesy call to His Excellency President Adama Barrow to brief him about the functions and challenges of the Association.<\/b><\/p>\n

Among the challenges discussed were the welfare of doctors and healthcare workers. Dr Jaiteh said there is a need to consider the welfare of doctors and health workers to increase the efficiency of work and the quality of service delivery.<\/p>\n

President Barrow seized the opportunity of the courtesy call to convey his most profound appreciation to the Association. He further said his Government\u2019s priority is improving health care for Gambians and people living in The Gambia, which aligns with the Medical and Dental Association\u2019s vision.<\/p>\n

Since the Government is committed to investing more in the health sector, President Barrow advised the Council to provide a write-up on their Association and areas in which they want the Government to intervene. He urged members of the Council to commit to working together to attain the highest possible level of health for the people of The Gambia towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goal and, in particular, Universal Health Coverage for all.<\/p>\n

The Association fosters collaboration by providing a forum for discussion on the medical profession\u2019s guidelines for patient management. It is an adviser to the Government and Non-Government Organisations that deal with health.<\/p>\n

President Barrow\u2019s administration has been engaged in strategic partnerships with stakeholders to strengthen the country\u2019s health service delivery. He acknowledged the role of the Medical and Dental Association and reiterated his continuous support to the Association and the health sector in general.<\/p>\n

The Association was founded in 1980 to promote the standard of practice and improve the welfare of medical and dental professionals to safeguard the noble ideals of the profession.<\/p>\n

The Vice President of the Association, Dr Kebba Marenah, Secretary General Dr. Ousman Leigh and Dr. Masirending Njieaccompanied Dr Jaiteh.<\/p>\n
