Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>It would be recalled that on October 7, a boat carrying over 99 Gambians and 22 Senegalese originally set off towards Spain from the coastal town of Gunjur but lost course. After being stuck at sea for more days than initially planned, the migrants were finally rescued by the Moroccan coast guard and held in a detention center in Bir Gandouz, a town in Western Sahara controlled by Morocco.<\/p>\n

The plane carrying the migrants landed at the Banjul International Airport on Monday 1st November, 2021. Upon their arrival, the migrants – a total of 100 – were checked and cleared by the Gambia Immigration Department before they were transferred to IOM department for healthcare and psychological support, meals and monetary assistance.<\/p>\n
