Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The office of the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Kerewan Area Council has hailed the council for the endorsement of women\u2019s inclusion into the District Tribunal Court in seven districts across the North Bank Region (NBR) for the first time.<\/b><\/p>\n

Management of the Kerewan Area Council described women\u2019s inclusion at the District Tribunal Court as crucial in promoting fair dispensation of justice for women and this also will provide space for women to seek fair dispensation of justice.<\/p>\n

Speaking to The Voice in Essau, Chief George L Sonko of Lower Nuimi said the district tribunal has first ever Bagged Messenger while the addition of females in the district tribunal would strengthen women\u2019s capacity.<\/p>\n

Chief Sonko used the occasion to warn individuals who are in the habit of carrying out illegal logging in Bakindick and others late at night. He said such acts would never be accepted while calling on the inhabitants to be vigilant and report anyone found wanting.<\/p>\n

Chief Alagie Jagne, Momodou Chatty Cham, and Mustapha Dibba of Central Badibou, Upper Nuimi, and Upper Badibourespectively described the move taken by Kerewan Area Council as crucial.<\/p>\n

They noted that women\u2019s inclusion in tribunal court would provide an opportunity for women to adequately express themselves and get a fair dispensation of justice.<\/p>\n

For her part, Ma\u2019am Sainabou Martin Sonko, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Papa Tunkara of Kerewan Area Council reiterated their commitment to improve effective service delivery at the tribunal, citing that all the seven districts appointed females and Council increase transport allowance from D1000 to D3000.<\/p>\n
