Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Urologist Professor James N\u2019Dow DL, Founder and Director of Horizons Clinic Gambia Limited has vowed to offer a range of outstanding specialist medical services, and save lives.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement shared with this medium, he stated \u201cIf you look at pregnancy and childbirth alone, the country\u2019s maternal mortality and neonatal mortality rates are still far too high. The Horizons Clinic will offer a range of outstanding specialist medical services and save lives.\u201d<\/p>\n

He pointed out that people live on a continent where many continue to die from preventable medical causes which should not happen, adding that investment from Afreximbank enables the Gambia to provide world-class healthcare to its residents.<\/p>\n

He assured in his statement that all patients will be treated in the clinic including those who can afford to pay and less well-off people due to the clinic\u2019s social enterprise corporate structure design.<\/p>\n

The Horizon Clinic Director explained that the clinic will be the first international standard hospital in The Gambia that will offer a range of secondary and tertiary specialist services that are not available at present in the country. He noted that currently, patients needing specialist care either does not receive it or travel abroad at significant cost adding, \u201cThe Horizons Clinic will be complementary to the current healthcare provision in The Gambia.\u201d<\/p>\n

Explaining further, for the first time, existing healthcare providers in the Gambia will have the option to refer patients needing specialist care to a high-quality hospital locally, and the clinic will have 60 beds that will feature a comprehensive outpatient department and diagnostic service.<\/p>\n

Horizons Clinic will also offer local healthcare workers opportunities for continuing professional development (CPD) to further strengthen the health system.<\/p>\n

The Horizons Clinic Gambia Limited Board Chairman, Mr. Alpha Barry, added in the statement that the establishment of the Horizons Clinic, through the unprecedented support of Afreximbank and other esteemed partners, is a testament to their collective vision of transforming the Gambian health sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will not just be a building, it will be a beacon of hope and a promise of quality healthcare for all Gambians, as well as a model for other African countries,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
