{"id":56155,"date":"2024-04-09T16:17:29","date_gmt":"2024-04-09T16:17:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/?p=56155"},"modified":"2024-04-09T15:53:35","modified_gmt":"2024-04-09T15:53:35","slug":"gra-urges-taxpayers-to-embrace-digitalisation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/gra-urges-taxpayers-to-embrace-digitalisation","title":{"rendered":"GRA urges taxpayers to embrace digitalisation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Commissioner General Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA), Yankuba Darboe, has called on Gambians (taxpayers) to embrace digitalisation reforms that would yield dividends for our economy.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The GRA boss made reference to Rwanda\u2019s \u201cdigitalisation reforms\u201d where most of the West African states currently go on study tours to learn new digitalisation reforms.<\/p>\n<p>He made this remark during the recent press conference organised by GRA at its main office in Banjul.<\/p>\n<p>The purpose of the press conference was to update the media on the Authority\u2019s revenue collection status and major reforms undertaken by GRA under the leadership of the Commissioner General Daarboe.<\/p>\n<p>CG Darboe acknowledged it is always difficult to adopt new initiatives; however, he says \u201cwe need to embrace it for the best interest of The Gambia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He cited a lot of innovations and technologies that GRA had introduced and are working \u201cvery well\u201d in The Gambia.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Darboe disclosed that GRA was able to succeed in generating billions within a short period of time due to its large digital system \u2013 which is being implemented in certain strategic areas such as; the introduction of the Single Window System, state-of-the-art scanning machine which he said is one of the best systems in West Africa. He added that the state-of-the-art weighing scale bridge at the Ports of Banjul is also playing an important role in revenue collection.<\/p>\n<p>He cited that this technology which has e-tracking of vehicles and containers detector has yielded positive revenue generation within the first quarter of the year. CG Darboe went further to give assurance and expressed optimism that with this trend of monthly revenue collection and the determination of his \u201cgallant staff\u201d, by the end of December 2024, GRA would achieve its annual revenue target of D19.2 billion.<\/p>\n<p>The GRA boss emphasised that the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) under his watch would continue to search for more innovations and technologies in the continent and apply them in The Gambia. \u201cWe also continue to empower our committed staff, as the D19.2 billion annual revenue target is not a child\u2019s play, but surely we will be there,\u201d CG Darboe assured.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\">Gambia<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia.
