Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>A former National Assembly Member for Kiang Central, Hon. Bakary Camara has lamented that the recently conducted election in Senegal should serve as a lesson to Gambians.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cIf we want to change or develop as a country, the electorates should consider the decision of the Senegalese by voting for the right candidate\u201d he opined.<\/p>\n

In an interview with this medium, the former Lawmaker said the most important thing to do as a country is to take a common stand on diaspora voting because it has a great impact on the country\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n

He explained that there are clear manifestations that the current government is not leading the country on the right path.<\/p>\n

He stressed that President Barrow should be voted out or stepped down while nagging that since this government came into power audit reports revealed the mismanagement of public funds in various government ministries and institutions while nothing came out of it at the end.<\/p>\n

The number of corruption cases, he added, under President Barrow\u2019s government is too much but during Jammeh\u2019s era such were not occurring.<\/p>\n

With anger, he said the citizens are complaining about the economic situation and other issues in the country. He said to call a spade a spade \u201cWe all know that the country is not progressing as expected.\u201d<\/p>\n

He, therefore, suggested that the government should first work on reducing the cost of living saying without a comfortable life there would be no peace. The majority found it challenging to feed their families and pay rent. Good security and rampant corruption should be a priority for the government to fight against.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe should put politics and tribalism aside and focus on developing our country better, if not the poor citizens will continue to experience hardship\u201d he added<\/p>\n

He said the 2026 Presidential elections should be a great concern to all the patriotic citizens and everyone should vote wisely so that history will not repeat itself.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we make any wrong move, it will affect the poor people. Oppositions should come together and form a unified force under the banner of national interest and vote out corrupt government that failed to deliver,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
