Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Namibian sprinter Christine Mboma is poised to make her competitive return to athletics after a hiatus of one year and eight months.<\/b><\/p>\n

The 20-year-old Olympic 200 meters silver medalist will mark her comeback at the Absa Kip Keino Classic on April 20 at the Nyayo National Stadium.<\/p>\n

Mboma\u2019s last competitive outing was at the Commonwealth Games in August 2022, where she secured a bronze medal in the 200 meters event. However, her career was temporarily affected by World Athletics\u2019 new rules on testosterone levels, particularly for athletes with Differences in Sex Development (DSD).Underwent treatment to lower her testosterone levels<\/p>\n

Under these regulations, athletes like Mboma, with high testosterone levels, faced restrictions on competing in female sports. Mboma underwent treatment to lower her testosterone levels and has now received clearance from World Athletics to participate in the 100 meters and 200 meters events.<\/p>\n

Expressing his delight, Mboma\u2019s coach, Henk Botha, emphasized their focus on qualifying for the Paris Olympics and stated that Mboma would continue hormone therapy throughout her career to comply with competition regulations.Kip Keino Classic director Barnaba Korir welcomed Mboma\u2019s return to the event, highlighting her past successes and the anticipation surrounding her participation.
