Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The United Democratic Party (UDP) says it\u2019s shocked and saddened by the tragic accident which occurred in the sister republic of Sierra Leone causing fatalities and severe damages to properties.<\/p>\n

About 100 people were killed in a fire disaster around 10 p.m. when two fully loaded tankers exploded after colliding at Wellington in the East-end of Freetown Sierra Leone\u2019s capital on Friday, consuming properties worth billions.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn behalf the National Executive Committee and on my own behalf, we express our deepest sympathies for the great loss of lives and property,\u201d A.N.M. Ousainu Darboe, the UDP leader writes on behalf of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI pray that all those who mourn are comforted by Almighty Allah, the Most Merciful and the most Compassionate. At this very difficult time for the people of Sierra Leone, our thoughts and prayers are with President Maada Bio and the First Lady. May they be granted the fortitude to bear this great loss.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIn fraternal solidarity.\u201dMeanwhile, the Sierra Leonean Julius Maada Bio in a twit said: \u201cI am deeply disturbed by the tragic fire and horrendous loss of lives around the Wellington PMB area. My profound sympathies to families who have lost loved ones and those who have been maimed as a result. My government will do everything to support affected families.\u201d<\/p>\n
