{"id":58180,"date":"2024-05-14T06:27:26","date_gmt":"2024-05-14T06:27:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/?p=58180"},"modified":"2024-05-14T06:19:34","modified_gmt":"2024-05-14T06:19:34","slug":"mops-trains-staff-in-skills-gap-assessment-of-mdas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/mops-trains-staff-in-skills-gap-assessment-of-mdas","title":{"rendered":"MoPS Trains Staff in Skills Gap Assessment of MDAs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>Twenty-two (22) participants from various units within the Ministry of Public Service (MoPS) on Tuesday 7 May 2024 concluded a day-long training in Skills Gap Assessment (SGA) of the government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) at a local hotel in Bakau.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The main objective of the training is to understand the purpose and significance of skills gap assessment, explain the rationale behind the Skills Gap Assessment, describe the benefits of Skills Gap Assessment, explain steps in conducting Skills Gap Assessment and learn techniques to identify skills gaps within the ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).<\/p>\n<p>The training was also aimed at improving the understanding of the workforce needed, improve performance, learning and retention, help identify realistic interventions, support optimal use of human capital and other available resources among others.<\/p>\n<p>Declaring the training open on behalf of the permanent secretary Ministry of Public Service, Sheriff Jallowcommended the participants for attending the training.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe training will boost your personnel, learning and development and will enhance your capabilities. This training is the first step and it is important to our journey to have regular capacity-building training on Skills Gap Assessment of MDAs,\u201d Mr. Jallowexplained.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, Skills Gap Assessment is part of the ministry\u2019s work and mandates, especially the Human Resources Development Division (HRDD) under the Personnel Management Office (PMO).<\/p>\n<p>Civil Service Reform Director, Mr. Sheriff Jallow, explained that the new knowledge gained by participants will add value to official work.<\/p>\n<p>The consultants of the Skills Gap Assessment project are Ugandan and Kenyan nationals from CERFODES Firm led by the coordinator of the project, Mr. Ronald Okite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\">Gambia<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia.
