Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Mayor of Kanifing Municipality (KMC), Talib Ahmad Bensouda last week welcomed the Mayor of Parcelle, Djmail Sane from Senegal and the President of the Vienna Assembly, accompanied by Mrs Ursula Fahringer, the Ambassador of Austria in Dakar.<\/b><\/p>\n

Accorded with tumultuous welcome, Mayor Bensouda said the visit would boost up the existing bilateral relationship between the two countries.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a lot we can partner with the city of Vienna, and we hope that this visit can bring about a lot of fruitful things, a lot of benefits for both parties because KMC likes partnerships that is a mutual beneficial,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Mayor Bensouda also expressed interest in having an official relationship with Senegal through the Mayor of Parcelle.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will love to have an official relationship with Parcelle. Parcelle and KMC are having exchanges, but it\u2019s very personalised, it\u2019s because of the friendship I\u2019ve developed with Djamil (the mayor of Parcelle) we want that relationship to now be official, so that whenever we are gone, this relationship will continue to bear fruit\u201d, he expressed.<\/p>\n

Djamil Sane, the Mayor of Parcelle also expressed his interest in having a strong partnership with KMC.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the President of Vienna assembly is here it\u2019s because when I went there last year I persuaded him to come to Senegal because he has never been to Africa, and I cannot let him come to Senegal without visiting the Gambia as well because I and the mayor of KMC have a good relationship and it\u2019s important for all countries to benefit from the partnership\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ernst Woller, the President of Vienna Assembly also expressed appreciation for the rapid development the country is witnessing and appealed for collaboration in order to address some of the challenges through partnership.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s important to have relationships and it\u2019s important to know each other, every country has its own challenges, but we have the same aim which is to make the lives of people better and to live in peace together,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n
