Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Gambia’s Cany Jobe makes top 50 inspiring pan-African female energy leaders By Sainey Marenah of Alkamba Times Cany Jobe-Taal, director of exploration at Gambia National Petroleum Company has been nominated and selected for the 2021 power list: Pan African Female Leaders in Energy by Africa Oil Week which is the voice of E&P \u2013 the global platform for stimulating deals and transactions across the African Upstream and Lean In Energy group.<\/p>\n

Carefully curated by Africa Oil Week and Lean in Energy, the 2021 Power List features 50 inspiring women \u2013 from Morocco to Cape Town, from manager to minister \u2013 all of whom are working and motivating others across the African energy sector.<\/p>\n

Cany, who is the only top female executive in gas, oil and energy industry in The Gambia, has been making headway in recent times having featured with some big names in the oil and gas industry globally.<\/p>\n

Reacting to her selection, the delightful Cany told The Alkamba Times: \u201cI am delighted to have been nominated and selected for the 2021 Power List. It features 50 inspiring women, who are working and motivating others across the African energy sector, and I am truly humbled to have been highlighted in this. I congratulate all the fantastic ladies on this list particularly those of the much-underrepresented engineering backgrounds on whose giant shoulders current and future girls in STEM shall stand. I am today because of all the women who have paved the way for my generation before me and all the male allies who make it easy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cany was scheduled to participate in this year\u2019s Africa Oil Week conference in Dubai from the 8 and 11 November and to address the forum alongside Sarah Taylor, director for international trade UK government, Cynthia Lumor, deputy MD of Tullow Ghana, Moroti Adedoyin-Adeyinka, executive director of Sahara Group.<\/p>\n

Cany Jobe is a dedicated and strategic petroleum engineer with a passion for cleaner and renewable energy technologies who has worked on energy projects in West Africa, South America, East Asia and Australia over the past 14 years.<\/p>\n

She holds a BSc in Materials and Mineral Resources Engineering from the National Taipei University of Technology (Taiwan), a Master of Engineering in Oil & Gas from the University of Western Australia (Australia) and an Accredited Masters in International Project Management from the Glasgow Caledonian University (Scotland).<\/p>\n
