Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Head of Communications at the Central Bank of The Gambia (CBG), Mr. Sulayman Darboe, has said that CBG has a robust clean money policy to effectively deal with mutilated, worn-out and torn Dalasi notes.<\/b><\/p>\n

The apex bank\u2019s management of circulation-scarred Dalasi notes was last week sharply criticized by economist Morro Gaye, who opined that replacing torn, ripped or damaged Dalasi notes was becoming elusive and wondered why such bills should be in circulation despite the introduction of new notes in 2019.<\/p>\n

However, according to Mr. Darboe, the CBG has a unit that deals with the quality of banknotes in circulation.<\/p>\n

He explained that the unit ensures that the bank notes are always fit for use as legal tender.<\/p>\n

Mr. Darboe said the CBG will appropriately respond to Mr. Gaye\u2019s views as he urged to always reach out to the bank before publishing such views.<\/p>\n
