Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>By Bruce Asemota The Standard has been reliably informed that Mai Ahmad Fatty, presidential aspirant for the Gambia Moral Congress whose nomination papers were rejected, has taken the IEC to court.<\/p>\n

Judiciary sources confirmed to The Standard that the GMC leader filed a petition at the High Court asking the court to overturn the IEC decision to disqualify him.<\/p>\n

Fatty is the third applicant and presidential aspirant to have taken the IEC to court over their disqualification to run in the December poll. Citizens\u2019 Alliance candidate Dr Ismaila Ceesay and independent aspirant Joseph Henry Joof both filed petitions. Mai Ahmad Fatty\u2019s nomination was rejected after IEC claimed it submitted less 200 required voters to support his nomination in Banjul.<\/p>\n
