Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Honorary International Olympic Committee (IOC) member and World Baseball Softball Confederation vice-president Beatrice Allen has been elected President of The Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNOC).<\/p>\n

Allen received 25 votes compared to 17 for election rival Lamin King Colley.<\/p>\n

The 71-year-old replaces Dodou Joof, who was not seeking re-election.<\/p>\n

Gambia Football Federation chief Lamin Kabba Bajo was voted first vice-president, seeing off the challenge of Bai Dodou Jallow by 27 votes to 15.<\/p>\n

Bajo was previously second vice-president of GNOC, with Allen first vice-president.<\/p>\n

Ousman Wadda is the new GNOC second vice-president, beating Johnny Gomez 26 votes to 16.<\/p>\n

Wadda had previously been treasurer.he stage is set<\/p>\n

Muhammed Jagana was elected treasurer.<\/p>\n

Yorri Njie was voted in as general secretary.<\/p>\n

Bakebba BKS Susso – representing taekwondo – judo official Timothy Colley and Pa Assan Sylva from the athletics fraternity were elected Board members.<\/p>\n

All of those elected were running on the same ticket.<\/p>\n

Integrity, inclusiveness, leadership and excellence will be the four core values of the new GNOC Executive Board, it is claimed.<\/p>\n

Allen also vowed in her manifesto to promote women\u2019s participation in sport, improve collaboration with the Government and other stakeholders, zone in on strategies which can lead to international success and support athletes in their career development.<\/p>\n

Rio 2016 Olympians Gina Bass and Adama Jammeh – both sprinters – were additionally nominated for Board seats.<\/p>\n

Bass also competed at Tokyo 2020 and carried the Gambian flag at both Opening Ceremonies.<\/p>\n
