Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>By Maimuma Sey-Jawo The President of Kairo Survivor Led Crisis Society, Ebrima Mustapha Jawneh has advised all Gambians and non-Gambians residing in the Gambia to keep the rule of laws and maintain peace and stability during and after the forthcoming Presidential election.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs the political climate grows more and more competitive, the President and the Board Chair decided to give advice to Gambians at home and in the diaspora. I implore all electorates, politicians, the media, National Security, the Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), Gambians in the diaspora and more specifically the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) to continue to adhere to the rule of law during the 4th December presidential election,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He urged all and sundry to do away with unnecessary rumors and avoid political sentiments and that the media to stick to ethics and professionalism as delivered in most of the pre-election trainings that foster responsible journalism.<\/p>\n

He also urged the Independent Electoral Commission to learn from the past and ensure responsible computing of votes, timely and accurate reporting. \u201cIn addition, I would like to remind political party leaders and their followership to continue adhere to the MOU they signed pertaining to violence free election\u201d, Mr. Jawneh advised.<\/p>\n

He concluded by advising Gambians in the diaspora to continue to advocate politics of decency and individual rights to decision-making for their siblings here in The Gambia.<\/p>\n

The Board Chair Dr. Lamin Sidibeh in his professional advice stated that Gambians should understand that politics come and go, whilst electorates remain and are bound to coexist. He said politics is a game and politicians divide and rule based on their political ambitions or interests<\/p>\n

Dr Sidibeh reiterated that matured people should not let themselves be used for political gains. He as well warned and said \u201cbeware Politics is an opium. Don\u2019t be a fool! Adhere to COVID rules.\u201d<\/p>\n
