Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>By Binta Jaiteh Baboucarr Jobe, a human rights activist is set to launch a Book entitled Right and Beyond. The launching of the book is slated for 11th December, under the theme \u2013 Ending the misconception of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Rights in The Gambia. The book details human rights, its evolution and the different standards on how it is globalized.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis book is a response to LGBT and Gambian law and it also sensitively addressed the overall opinion of critics and role of the National Human Rights Commission of The Gambia, traditional belief of LGBT by Gambians and the reaction of religious leaders,\u201d Baboucarr Jobe said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe research was definitely stemmed from any recent studies of human rights and also the commotion that Gambians have endured with regards to human right and LGBT in the country. The fact of the matter that globalization preaches about universalism of rights and there have been many evidences to prove that certain rights are not all compatible in all situation and all countries,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Gambia been a religious country and the opinion poll will reveal greater percentage of the citizen will oppose the LGBT rights and will definitely want other rights to be promoted especially that has a comprise with religious.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fact that human rights can only be view on the lens of domestic principle, the book reveals the concept of rights at the global stage how it has been used for good reason and also its manipulative nature of human at the international scene that has power politics as the driving force by the global power,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

According to him, the book has interesting topics that will be periodically updated to meet the modern realities and will serve as benchmark to future research about the evolution of nature and human rights.<\/p>\n

\u201cDefying of some rights and how it has continued to shape global politics as a tool for interest gain in the international arena. This book is organized into seven different themes all are interconnected in one way or the other. It will give us a comprehensive understanding of the subject matters and the trench that human right has navigate to our present-day generation. Finally, the book has sighted some of the opinion of Gambian in different walks of life and global statistics of LGBT. Provided a critical review of the new draft Constitution of the Republic of the Gambia and its clauses on the LGBT community in tandem with the above is in memory of Nfamara Drammeh,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
