Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Mr Essa Faal, an independent candidate contestant at the just concluded December 4 presidential election has urged electorates to abide by law and order and not to allow politics to make them disobey the law \u201cbecause we are all one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters in Banjul shortly after casting his vote he said \u201cwe are here to witness a historic moment in which Gambians will decide who will rule us in the next five years. I want all my supporters and Gambians in particular to respect each other and avoid nonsensical behavior just like we have witnessed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe cannot detour or be intimidated Gambians will exercise their sovereign right to vote for any party of their choice. I prayed at the end of the day we have free, fair and justice process, a process where all Gambians will be proud of. We have done the TRRC which the whole world has regarded as a model for transitional justice,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope today our brothers and sisters will deliver another model of democracy that will be the envy of the whole world. Not only in the civility of the process but also transparency and fairness. However, I urge all my supporters to show maximum respect to other people like we always do and to just understand this is a process of selecting a leader,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

Finally, \u201cI call on all Gambians to exercise restrains and be law abiding citizens no matter what the results produce we have ways to solve them just in case there is disagreement instead of resorting to violence or other unlawful behavior. We have the justice system which people can be sort with for which we are known with dignified and civilized nation and I\u2019m sure by Sunday (yesterday) when it becomes certain we will know our leader. I have the belief that when things are done people will be calm to respect each other and the law.\u201d<\/p>\n
