Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The visiting nurses Cristina, Blanca and Laura, are in the country courtesy of Martinas Foundation. During their two-week stay, they are expected to treat a number of patients with health related complications in various health centres. Speaking on behalf of the nurses, Cristine expressed delight to be in the country to help people especially the sick.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were in Wuli briefly, where we attend to hundreds of patients with different health conditions. We brought with us lot of drugs and other medical items for the people of The Gambia. We are glad that we are helping in our small ways\u201d.<\/p>\n

Jerreh Sanno, Gambian counterpart acknowledged the fact that government can\u2019t do it alone, thus the Foundation. He said their plan is to be bringing in highly demanded drugs and other medical equipment to the country every now and then.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have done series of clinic days in many villages in the country and we have provided delivery beds for some hospitals. We planned to help lot of health facilities in the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

This batch of nurses, he added, would be going back soon but was quick to say that another batch is expected in the country soon. Established two years, Martina Foundation seeks to add value to the country\u2019s health care system. The CEO and founder is one Francis based in Spain, while its Executive director is Mariama Baldeh, a pharmacist based in The Gambia.<\/p>\n
