President Adama Barrow has returned gratitude to one Musa Trawally, who trekked 480 kilometres to congratulate him on his victory, saying if his civil servants and ministers demonstrate Musa\u2019s commitment, The Gambia will be like Dubai in four years.<\/p>\n

Mr Trawally reached State House yesterday and met President Barrow after a journey, which started in Basse and took 9 days covering over 480 kilometres.<\/p>\n

\u201cGambia is witnessing history \u2013 Musa Trawally has made history which will stay forever,\u201d the president said thanking Mr Trawally for fulfilling his commitment which he said reminded him of his own so unfulfilled promise that \u201cif I win the election, I will fast for 3 days\u201d.<\/p>\n

The president said he is emotionally moved about the story of Musa Trawally who comes from Sare Pirasu, the Upper River Region. President Barrow said Musa has demonstrated extraordinary love for The Gambia and him, and his bravery will be long recognized.<\/p>\n

\u201cMusa\u2019s conduct has reaffirmed my determination to serve the Gambian people, especially in light of the sacrifices he and many others have made and continue to make for The Gambia.<\/p>\n

\u201cI call on Gambians in all walks of life to take similar commitment to work for the advancement of the country,\u201d he said. The minister of lands, Musa Drammeh said Mr Trawally has demonstrated true love for the president and country.<\/p>\n

Also speaking at State House, a happy Musa Trawally said he decided to trek all the way from Basse to demonstrate his love for President Barrow which kept him motivated during his 9-day long journey.<\/p>\n

\u201cI made a promise during the campaign that if President Barrow wins the election, I will walk from Basse to Banjul to celebrate his victory. When I started my journey, many people came to give me money to pay for transport but I refused and decided to walk and I am very happy that today I\u2019m fulfilling my promise,\u201d he said. Mr Trawally said his decision was motivated by the president\u2019s accomplishments over the past five years.<\/p>\n
