Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Qur\u2019anic Botanic Garden (QBG), the first garden in the world to exhibit all plant species mentioned in the Holy Qur\u2019an, Hadith, and Sunnah, recently welcomed the First Lady of Gambia, Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow. She was accompanied a delegation including, the Gambian Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Claudiana Ayo Cole and Gambian ambassador to Qatar Foday Malang and his spouse Oumie S W Ndow. Accompanied by QBG director Fatima al-Khulaifi, the Gambian First Lady planted a seedling of the country\u2019s national tree, Gmelina arborea, at QBG\u2019s African Women\u2019s Diplomatic Garden and along with her delegation, toured QBG\u2019s Botanical Museum and surrounding facilities, while learning about the garden. Earlier this year, ambassador Malang had visited QBG and personally delivered Gmelina arborea seedlings, exclusively brought in from Gambia to be planted at QBG. The fast-growing plants were later propagated by QBG to five impressive trees. A number of embassies around the country have also recognised the important role that QBG plays in environmental conservation and restoration. These include the embassies of the US, UK, Russia, Turkey and India. In addition, Mali, Djibouti, South Africa, and Senegal, are among the countries that, earlier last year, helped launch QBG\u2019s African Women\u2019s Diplomatic Garden \u2013 a first in the country – under the patronage of HE Sheikha Hind bint Hamad al-Thani, vice-chairperson and CEO of QF, in celebration of Qatar Environment Day in 2019.<\/p>\n
