Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has collected over D13 billion in revenue in just the first six months of 2025, surpassing the total revenue it collected for the whole of 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n

This was revealed by the Minister of Finance and Economic Affairs, Hon. Seedy Keita, during the official launch of GRA\u2019s new Electronic Invoicing project held at the Ministry\u2019s conference room on Tuesday, 8th July 2025.<\/p>\n

Minister Keita said the significant increase is thanks to GRA\u2019s ongoing digitalisation drive and other key reforms that continue to strengthen tax compliance and improve revenue collection.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2022, the total revenue collected stood at D11.6 billion, but from January to June this year alone, GRA has already collected D13 billion,\u201d he said. \u201cThis shows clearly that our digital transformation efforts are working.\u201d<\/p>\n

He praised the foresight and leadership of the Commissioner General, Mr. Yankuba Darboe, and the entire GRA team for what he described as \u201cexceptional work\u201d in boosting domestic revenue mobilisation without imposing new taxes.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe success we are seeing is not because we increased taxes but because we embraced technology to close leakages and ensure that every Dalasi due is collected,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The finance minister highlighted that the newly launched Electronic Invoicing system to be implemented by Worldwide AVATAR Technologies is part of broader efforts to modernise tax administration and improve efficiency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis reform is just one of many that GRA, with support from the Ministry of Finance, has rolled out in recent years to strengthen compliance,\u201d he noted. \u201cThese steps are all in line with President Adama Barrow\u2019s commitment to drive domestic resource mobilisation and digital governance.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minister Keita also used the occasion to urge the public and business community to cooperate with GRA and embrace the new system.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government can only deliver development when the right revenue is collected,\u201d he said. \u201cWe count on every Gambian to support these reforms. We are not introducing new taxes but strengthening systems to make sure everyone pays what they owe.\u201d<\/p>\n

He thanked President Barrow for providing the enabling environment for such reforms to succeed, adding that the gains so far would not have been possible without strong political support.<\/p>\n

The Minister concluded by encouraging taxpayers to take advantage of the new systems and play their part in building a stronger economy for all.<\/p>\n
