Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Renowned Gambian philanthropist, Modou Turo Darboe has advised President Adama Barrow to \u201cbe very careful\u201d with what he described as the \u201cthree S\u2019s\u201d in his government, accusing them of driving loyal supporters away from the ruling party through insults, threats and division.<\/b><\/p>\n

Mr Darboe, the founder of Vision Development Foundation made the advice while speaking in an interview <\/b>held on Tuesday. He praised President Barrow as a humble and good man but said some close allies are tarnishing the image of his leadership. \u201cThese three S\u2019s are not bringing people to the National People\u2019s Party (NPP) they are only driving supporters out of the party,\u201d he remarked. \u201cPolitics is not about insulting people and threatening people.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. Darboe singled out Seedy SK Njie and Dou Sanno as examples of politicians he respects, describing them as loyal, respectful and able to build bridges. \u201cSeedy Njie is very loyal to Barrow. Dou Sanno will bring you into the party, whoever you are that\u2019s politics,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Darboe, known for decades of charity work, also expressed disappointment with GRTS, the national broadcaster, claiming they were instructed not to cover his activities despite his history of complementing government development efforts. He recalled working with GRTS for over 30 years, even under former President Jammeh, who, he said, never blocked coverage of his projects.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf these new people come now and say GRTS should not cover Modou Turo Darboe, what have I done? I\u2019m only complementing the government efforts,\u201d he said. \u201cI have nothing against Barrow. I have nothing against any political party.\u201d<\/p>\n

Darboe insisted that he would continue to speak against tribalism and promote national unity. \u201cOne Gambia, one people, one nation that\u2019s what I will preach until my last day,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He urged President Barrow to act: \u201cIf he doesn\u2019t be careful about these three S\u2019s, Barrow will lose a lot of his good people.\u201d<\/p>\n
