{"id":81911,"date":"2025-07-12T18:14:31","date_gmt":"2025-07-12T18:14:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/uncategorized\/turkish-energy-firm-plans-investment-in-gambia-energy-sector"},"modified":"2025-07-12T19:43:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-12T19:43:43","slug":"turkish-energy-firm-plans-investment-in-gambia-energy-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/turkish-energy-firm-plans-investment-in-gambia-energy-sector","title":{"rendered":"Turkish Energy Firm Plans Investment in Gambia Energy Sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>AIC Company ltd, a Turkish renewable energy firm and leading solar energy provider in the country has unveiled plans to invest hugely in the Gambia\u2019s energy sector.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>According to Mr. Dennis Elverir, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AIC Company ltd, the firm is committed to constructing large energy plants that will ensure a reliable electricity supply for The Gambia.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed during an exclusive interview granted to on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Elverir, the former CEO of NOCART Engineering RE-Investments, emphasised that their company fully prepared to partake in the nation\u2019s quest to transformative green energy landscape.<\/p>\n<p>He says AIC\u2019s vision as a green energy company is to provide every household with affordable renewable energy, noting that the company is financing a 540 kW project that will go a long way in the realisation of the set vision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are the first company to invest in renewable energy in Gambia and currently we are empowering commercial sectors. The new project we are embarking on is a 5 megawatt solar plant in Tanji that will help improve the flow of energy in that part of the country,\u201d Mr. Elverir disclosed.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cThis development will allow us to supply electricity to six thousand five hundred households in The Gambia daily we hope to very soon accelerate some of our project on the pipeline, which will allow us to supply green energy to many more families at affordable prices.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Discussing the company\u2019s current initiatives, Mr. Elverir noted, \u201cWe completed an eighty-kilowatt (80 KW) project in Mandinaring and we are now working on a 540 KW project, with a 240-KW project in the pipeline.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He indicated that additional projects are forthcoming, including the installation of 200 kW and 5 megawatts, adding that the company have numerous projects in the pipeline, some of which are completed while some are in progress, and others upcoming.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that these projects promise job creation, economic development, and improved electricity supply in the nation, noting that AIC is also collaborating with various authorities to demonstrate the project\u2019s potential and elevate Gambia\u2019s profile on a global scale.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Peter Weisfeld, Head of the AG Engineering Department at AIC, who has resided in The Gambia for over twenty years, also highlighted the advantages of establishing a functional renewable energy sector in the country, particularly due to its abundant sunlight.<\/p>\n<p>He clarified that AIC is not competing with any solar companies in the country; rather, their focus is on higher capacity projects that will attract larger investments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe plan to connect solar panels to NAWEC to enhance supply.
