Jallow, has told the National Assembly\u2019s Special Select Committee probing the sale and disposal of former President Jammeh\u2019s assets that his Ministry has not found any written evidence confirming whether due diligence was conducted on key individuals involved in the process.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Appearing before the committee on Monday, Jallow made it clear that while he could not say the checks were never done there was no official record in his Ministry to show they were. \u201cIf I do find a record of it, I will provide it,\u201d he assured lawmakers. \u201cIf I don\u2019t see it, I wouldn\u2019t say due diligence was not done but my answer would be that I couldn\u2019t find any written evidence of due diligence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Janneh Commission, set up in 2017, identified millions worth of assets allegedly linked to the former president. The National Assembly committee is now investigating how those assets were handled, sold or transferred, and whether legal safeguards were followed to protect the state\u2019s interest.<\/p>\n<p>During his testimony, the Justice Minister explained that the legal advice given by his Ministry was meant strictly for the government\u2019s use and was not to be relied on by any third party without written consent.
