Cham, representing The Gambia Female Lawyers Association sought from the court to have their association joined into the FGM lawsuit.<\/p>\n<p>Defense lawyer Lamin J. Darboe, representing the plaintiffs, did not object to the application sought by FLAG lawyers.<\/p>\n<p>The presiding Judge then granted the application sought by FLAG lawyers and ordered the same to be done.<\/p>\n<p>According to court records the FGM lawsuit was filed by Hon. Almamy Gibba , Foni alongside Yassin Fatty , Nano Jawla, Kadijatou Jallow, Concerned Citizen, Islamic Enlightenment Society , Women\u2019s Association for Islamic Society Solidarity and Gambia Women Are Free to Choose Association against the State.<\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs are seeking an order from the court a declaration to strike out sections 32A and 32B of the Women\u2019s Amendment Act NO. 11 of 2015 from the Women\u2019s Act of 2010 so that only section 32 the original provision of the Women\u2019s Act 2010 will be maintained.<\/p>\n<p>The complainants also sought a declaration that the act of the National Assembly in passing the Women\u2019s Amendment Act NO. 11 of 2025 was in excess of legislative authority, arguing that such was void and no effect, claiming that such at the time was inconsistent with sections 17(1) and (2), 25(1)(c), 28(1) and (2), 32 and 33(2) and (3) of 1997 Constitution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Gambia<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia.
