Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>President Adama Barrow has called on members of his ruling National People\u2019s Party (NPP) to aim for a 75% vote share in the 2026 presidential election, setting an ambitious goal as the party begins its early campaign efforts.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at an NPP women\u2019s rally held in Janjanbureh on July 19, President Barrow reminded supporters of the party\u2019s 53% victory margin in the 2021 election and urged them to build on that momentum.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn 2021, we secured 53% of the votes. For 2026, I am challenging all of you\u2014we must achieve 75%,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The president expressed confidence in the party\u2019s strength, noting that the NPP has the people and resources required to meet the target. He also announced that the party\u2019s campaign for 2026 is already underway and emphasized that there is \u201cno turning back.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Barrow urged party members to remain united, describing unity as the key ingredient for success.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you are united, no one can defeat you in this country. We have done more work than our opponents, we have better facilities, and we enjoy broader support,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n

He further claimed that \u201call the good people in The Gambia\u201d stand behind him and the NPP.<\/p>\n

In a strong gesture of support toward the party\u2019s women\u2019s wing, President Barrow pledged to personally sponsor all women-led rallies and events leading up to the 2026 elections\u2014independent of party funds.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom now until 2026, I will personally fund your rallies and programs,\u201d he told the women in attendance, emphasizing their crucial role in political mobilization.<\/p>\n

The president concluded by affirming the importance of women in politics, saying, \u201cIf a politician wants to succeed, women must be their allies\u2014and women are my friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barrow\u2019s remarks mark a decisive and early push for re-election, with a focus on unity, grassroots mobilization, and women\u2019s empowerment within the party structure.<\/p>\n
