Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Marking International Youth Day 2025, the Patriotic Alliance for System Transformation, emancipates through Functionalism (PASTEF) The Gambia has issued a rallying call for young people to take the lead in transforming the nation\u2019s political and social systems.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a statement signed by its Public Relations and Communications Officer, Mr. Sidibeh, the movement described The Gambia as standing \u201cat a crossroads,\u201d with the choices of today\u2019s youth set to shape the republic of tomorrow.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis International Youth Day is more than a celebration it\u2019s a call to action,\u201d the statement read. \u201cIt\u2019s time to go beyond hashtags and complaints. It\u2019s time to stand up, show up, and take your place in the movement for real change.\u201d<\/p>\n

PASTEF,<\/b> which identifies itself as a youth-centered, values-driven, and future-focused political movement, said it is determined to break away from \u201cpolitics as usual,\u201d replacing what it called \u201ctired leadership and empty promises\u201d with systemic transformation.<\/p>\n

The statement outlined six key areas for youth action: championing good governance, defending human rights, driving economic innovation, promoting unity and inclusion, protecting the environment, and leading political reform.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are inheriting more than beautiful beaches and vibrant culture,\u201d it stated. \u201cYou\u2019re also inheriting the effects of corruption, inequality, broken systems, and lost opportunities. But you don\u2019t have to accept things as they are you can change the game.\u201d<\/p>\n

Citing the role of past generations in securing independence, the movement urged today\u2019s youth to take up the mantle for \u201cintegrity, justice, and a better future.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is not tomorrow\u2019s responsibility it\u2019s today\u2019s mission,\u201d the statement stressed. \u201cThe Republic must be salvaged by you, for you, and for generations yet to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

PASTEF\u2019s<\/b> call coincided with global events marking International Youth Day, celebrated annually on 12th August to highlight young people\u2019s contributions to development and change.<\/p>\n

The movement concluded by encouraging youth to organize, vote, innovate, and lead, declaring: \u201cWe\u2019re not waiting for change. We\u2019re creating it.\u201d<\/p>\n
