{"id":84539,"date":"2025-08-22T06:45:46","date_gmt":"2025-08-22T06:45:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/uncategorized\/seven-gambian-officers-dismissed-for-alleged-drug-links"},"modified":"2025-08-22T07:16:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-22T07:16:10","slug":"seven-gambian-officers-dismissed-for-alleged-drug-links","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/gambia\/all-news\/seven-gambian-officers-dismissed-for-alleged-drug-links","title":{"rendered":"Seven Gambian Officers Dismissed for Alleged Drug Links"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Gambia. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Gambia Armed Forces (GAF) has dismissed seven of its personnel with immediate effect following allegations of involvement in activities linked to drug trafficking and breaches of military discipline. <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The dismissed officers include Lieutenant (N) Abba Nyassi, Fleet Chief Petty Officer (FCPO) Musa Dampha, Warrant Officer Class 2 (WO2) Ismaila Jobe, Chief Petty Officers (CPOs) Musa Jammeh, Alagie Secka, Ebou Marong, and Leading Seaman (LS) Lamin DK Sanneh.<\/p>\n<p>According to the GAF, the dismissals follow the conclusion of an internal investigation into serious breaches of operational conduct and military discipline, in violation of Section 78 (1) of the Gambia Armed Forces Act (GAFA) 1985, Cap 19:01 Vol IV Revised Laws of The Gambia.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation was prompted by the arrest of two privately owned speedboats and a yacht on 14 May, 5 June, and 12 June 2025, which were linked to activities that compromised national security and the integrity of naval operations.<\/p>\n<p>GAF stated that military intelligence, in collaboration with relevant security agencies, uncovered evidence of deliberate and coordinated misconduct by the personnel. Findings included:<\/p>\n<p>a. The unauthorized preparation and launching of two privately owned speed boats.<\/p>\n<p>b. Cell site analysis and communications data revealing direct involvement of the dismissed personnel.<\/p>\n<p>c. Corroborated statements and observation of coordinated movement among the individuals involved.<\/p>\n<p>d. Receipt of monetary rewards and other material benefits, including Tobaski rams.<\/p>\n<p>e. Compromised operational integrity and betrayal of assigned duties.<\/p>\n<p>The Armed Forces confirmed that the personnel were involved in aiding a clandestine network operating under the guise of ALTIMA SEA SPORT LIMITED, which is currently under investigation for activities inconsistent with its stated purpose.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe dismissed personnel acted in direct violation of military ethics, oath of service, and national trust. Their continued presence in the Armed Forces, particularly within the Navy, would pose a clear and unacceptable risk to operational security and mission integrity. The Gambia Armed Forces upholds a zero-tolerance policy toward any form of collusion, corruption, or compromise of our core values.
