Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>Honorable Mai Ahmed Fatty, leader of Gambia Moral Congress, has advised Gambians to put aside their differences for the development of the country. According to him, in order to achieve development Gambians must move on over their differences and build together the country, adding that there is no country with a perfect situation in nation building.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have the obligation to build a successful, sustainable future for the youths. Why? Because, they are the country\u2019s future and without them our nation has no future. This is a shared responsibility. We must put differences aside, and single-mindedly focus on making The Gambia the envy of Africa. To achieve this, we must move on,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cMoving on does not translate to overlooking deficiencies. Yet, we should endeavour not to perpetuate a mindset that seeks to obfuscate the future of our country. It is unrealistic.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe lessons of history are useful for those who have the wisdom to move on, to invent a new future. Let us look forward, working together so that our country succeeds for us and for our children. National development is not a partisan affair; it is a national affair,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no nation with a perfect situation in nation building. Nations that succeed appreciate their internal differences, without permitting those differences to obscure the future of their countries. That is what patriotism is all about, and serious stakeholders in a political process would understand this principle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Gambia\u2019s destiny for greatness must be realized; this inevitability must be enforced. It is time to challenge each other on excellence in whatever we may do. Why? Because The Gambia deserves the best from all of us. Forward ever; backward never,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
