Africa-Press – Gambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Public Service last Wednesday led the validation exercise of government\u2019s National Performance Policy Document at a ceremony held at Metzy Hotel in Kololi.<\/b><\/p>\n

Presiding over the opening ceremony, Hon. Baboucarr Bouy, the Minister of Public Service, said Gambia Government created Civil Service Reform Program (2018-2027) to address merit-based recruitment, promotion and drive socio-economic growth.<\/p>\n

The cornerstone of this program, Minister Bouy explains, is the development of a Performance Management System (PMS) designed to promote accountability, fairness and discipline as well as result-driven service delivery within civil service.<\/p>\n

According to him, this new Performance Management Policy seeks to define: clear performance expectations and key performance indicators (KPIs), establish structured mechanisms for feedback, monitoring, and continuous improvement, enhanced employee motivation and fairness in career progression and align performance outcomes and national development priorities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe exercise is not merely about validating a draft, but it is about laying the foundation of a result-oriented and citizen focused public administration,\u201d Minister Bouy remarked.<\/p>\n

Permanent Secretary at the Personnel Management Office (PMO), Lamin F. Jawara in his own words said: \u201cI believe there is nothing more urgent and more important than this validation workshop as far as effective functioning of MDAs are concerned\u201d.<\/p>\n

PS Jawara sincerely commended Minister Baboucarr Bouy, Secretary to Cabinet and Head of Civil Service, Mr. Alieu Njie and Chairman PSC and staff, Mr, Baboucarr Suwareh for their steward leadership which he says, is critical to the success of Civil Service Reform Program (2018-2027).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, he acknowledged the dedication and hard work of the staff under the Civil Service Reform and Planning Unit (CSRPU) under the able leadership of the Permanent Secretary, Reform, Mr. Sheriff Jallow and the entire senior management team at the Personnel Management Office (PMO).<\/p>\n
